30 Day photo Challenge...revisited. 3 of 3

DAY 21: A PICTURE OF SOMETHING YOU WISH YOU COULD FORGET

I really like Tom Hanks, and I think he did a decent job, but he is not at all what I was picturing when I read Da Vinci code, and now every time I read a Robert Langdon book I picture Tom Hanks with a serious lack of sideburns.

DAY 22: A PICTURE OF SOMETHING YOU WISH YOU WERE BETTER AT

I want to be better at a lot of things; guitar, photography, making an honest living in ways that don't fill me with the desire to splatter my brains across a previously undecorated cubicle. But i have spent more time trying, and failing to learn to draw than anything else.

DAY 23 A PICTURE OF YOUR FAVORITE BOOK

The entire Harry Potter series is superb! Changed my life! Other candidates were The Historian, The Robert Langdon (Da Vinci Code etc)series, and A Christmas Carol

DAY 24: A PICTURE OF SOMETHING YOU WISH YOU COULD CHANGE

So, I've had this Cavalier for years. It's a great car, runs great, all that. I've also been trying to sell it for years unsuccessfully. All I really want is something bigger that suits my needs, and something that is more my style. An SUV, a Van, pretty much any pre 80's volkswagen. Please buy my cavy.

DAY 25: A PICTURE OF YOU ONE YEAR AGO

I'm pretty sure this was almost exactly a year ago. (On march 29 '11)

DAY 26: A PICTURE OF SOMETHING THAT MEANS A LOT TO YOU

This is Gilligan. He is like family to me. Sometimes people ask "Do you still have that sweet little volkswagen?" which I always think is a silly question. I would NEVER sell him.

DAY 27: A PICTURE OF YOURSELF AND A FAMILY MEMBER

How about the Whole family? Actually, we're short one and a half babies.

DAY 28: A PICTURE OF SOMETHING YOU'RE AFRAID OF

One of my biggest fears is being a wage slave/office drone/nameless cog/ etc etc. It's actually a phobia. I have panic attacks in job interviews, the room feels like it's changing proportions and rotating. It's a problem.

DAY 29: A PICTURE THAT MAKES YOU SMILE

and laugh...and laugh and laugh. The longer you look, the funnier it gets.

DAY 30: A PICTURE OF SOMETHING YOU MISS

The two things I regret parting with more than anything else; My Pirates of The Caribbean themed 68 VW beetle "The Black Pearl". The day I bought it it was yellow and it ran. 45 minutes later it was half charred, and and the engine was seized. I rebuilt the engine from instructions in a book, redid the interior, repainted, wood paneled, and fully customized it (hand carved shift knob, animated cd display with scenes from the ride, Film logo car emblem, and other film and ride memorabilia throughout. Sadly I had to part with it. #2 my sweet little honda scooter which I also repainted, hand painted the pixar birds on, tuned up, and loved to pieces, but money was tight and it still needed more...I should have sold my kidney.

30 Day photo Challenge...revisited. 2 of 3

DAY 11: A PICTURE OF SOMEONE YOU SEE YOURSELF MARRYING ONE DAY

I'm sure I am missing a few, but these are my celebrity crushes as far back as I can remember them, which was 7th grade.

DAY 12: A PICTURE OF SOMETHING YOU LOVE

Shave Ice from this particular place are about as close to a little slice of heaven as I can imagine.

DAY 13: A PICTURE OF YOUR FAVORITE BAND OR ARTIST

I have too many favorites for this one, so I thought I would post my favorite artist that I discovered in the last year. Pomplamoose. They are so great! Look them up on youtube. My favorite is either "September" or "Mr. Sandman"

DAY 14: A PICTURE OF SOMEONE YOU COULD NEVER IMAGINE YOUR LIFE WITHOUT

I could never imagine my life without Disney Parks, or Disney movies, and I could never imagine my life without Harry Potter. Therefore, I couldn't imagine my life without Walt Disney or J.K. Rowling.

DAY 15: A PICTURE OF SOMETHING YOU WANT TO DO BEFORE YOU DIE

a. I want to become the world's leading expert on something, probably Atlantis
b. I want to Scuba dive with a Great White Shark
c. I want to be nominated for an Oscar, but I only want to win it if it's for music.
d. I want to travel the world surfing

DAY 16: A PICTURE OF WHERE YOU WANT TO LIVE YOU OUT YOUR DAYS

So, I have this dream of someday having a house that looks just like the haunted mansion on the outside. I usually imagine this in Maine, but I'm not sure why cause Maine is probably way to cold for me, and I've never even been there, so probably somewhere else.

My other dream is to have a one room shack on a beach somewhere that secretly has a massive basement.

DAY 17: A PICTURE OF YOUR FAVORITE SUPERHERO

I think for theme song alone Tiny Little Superguy wins this one.

DAY 18: A PICTURE OF YOUR BIGGEST INSECURITY

My biggest insecurity is my bad posture. Which is ironic since poor posture is the number one sign of insecurity.

DAY 19 A PICTURE OF YOU WHEN YOU WERE LITTLE

note: awesome mustache, snazzy dresser, and faux hawk way before its time...me to a T.

DAY 20: A PICTURE OF SOMEWHERE YOU'D LIKE TO TRAVEL TO

Bruges. Europe in general actually.

30 Day photo Challenge...revisited. 1 of 3

Remember how I started the 30 day photo challenge, and it was on day 1 for 6 months?  I actually did it on facebook, so here's what it looked like:

DAY 1: A PHOTO OF ME WITH 15 FACTS:
1. I've wanted to be a Musician, an Actor, or a Writer since I was in early elementary school.2. I love Yoo-Hoo, can you tell?
3. I believe in Sasquatch, Aliens, Ghosts.
4. I hate how I look clean shaven.
5. I think "Toxic" may be the best produced female pop song in music history. No Joke.
6. I've never had a nickname that stuck very long, but my favorite has been "the Hippie"
7. I've remained friends with all my ex's and I get really mad when people act like the people I'm dating shouldn't allow that to go on.
8. I love Vintage Cars, Music, and Clothing.
9. I think there's something spiritual about places where the ocean and the land meet.
10. When I'm around people with Mexican accents, I can't stop myself from speaking with one myself, and I usually don't notice till it's too late.
11. I have driven my dream car since 1999.
12. All I really want out of life is to travel, eat well, surf, and play music.
13. The idea that one must wait till after Thanksgiving to Celebrate Christmas ticks me off.
14. Oreos are my Achilles Heal.
15. I think talented creative women are super sexy. (check out that owl hat my girl made!)

DAY 2: A PICTURE OF YOU AND THE PERSON YOU'VE BEEN CLOSE TO THE LONGEST

OK, this one would actually be my family, but that was too easy. I have a lot of friends I've been really close to at times, and a lot that will always be really important to me, but I think Bob has been with me more consistently and longer than about anybody. He's helped me through a lot of rough times and has had a lot of influence on my outlook on life.

p.s. I know the photoshop job sucks.

DAY 3: THE CAST OF YOUR FAVORITE SHOW

I had a hard time narrowing this down. Other possible options would be "Dead Like Me", "The Wonder Years", "Friends", "Leverage" and "Lie To Me".

DAY 4: A PICTURE OF YOUR PERFECT DAY

I wasn't sure if they meant a perfect day you've had, or hypothetical perfect day, so I kinda did half and half.

A. The most successful party I ever threw, hundreds and hundreds of people came. B. Our little vw club.
C. Photo outings with Katrina D. Scuba Diving in Hawaii with my dad.

DAY 6: A PERSON YOU'D LOVE TO TRADE PLACES WITH
This one was easy. Jimmy Buffett lives the life I want to live. He is a rock star in a genre he created. He has a huge fan following that throw insane parties before, during, and after all his shows. He owns a restaurant chain, a hotel, and various other things. He's written best selling novels. He's produced films. He lives his life sailing and flying and playing music with no shoes on. That is a good life.

DAY 7: SOME PLACE YOU'VE TRAVELED TO

This is in Oceanside California. I wanted to put Hawaii or Mexico, but those photos are in a box somwhere.

DAY 8: A PICTURE THAT MAKES YOU LAUGH

I took this photo of my nephew when he was a newborn. Since then his training has been going very well. We think he'll start training with Pai Mei later this year.

DAY 9: A PICTURE OF THE PERSON WHO HAS GOTTEN YOU THROUGH THE MOST

This one was also pretty easy. Jyllian and I were best friends for a long time before we dated, dated a long time, and have remained great friends since. We've been through everything from breaking ( and rebuilding) cars, to losing loved ones together. We've had a lot of fun, and when things weren't she helped me though it.

DAY 10: A PICTURE OF THE PERSON YOU DO THE MOST FUN STUFF WITH
This one was supposed to be "... the person you do the most messed up stuff with" but I don't do a lot of messed up stuff so...Katrina and I do all the fun stuff. We've been to disneyland, and the fair, and rock climbing, and hiking, and to VW shows, and on photo adventures, and body surfing, and built forts, and all sorts of other groovy stuff. She's a blast.

I'm still here

Ah blogging...just like most things in my life I get really into it for a while and then I totally space it.  Since it's been nearly half a year, I thought maybe I'd update!

So...this update will be brief and picture heavy, since the view is what I love most about what's changed in life.  In may Katrina and I decided to move to Saint George, Utah.  It's about 45 minutes southwest of Zion National Park, and smack in the middle of a bunch of state parks and other beautiful landscapes.  We both got jobs at Golds Gym, where I'm working as a personal trainer.  Since we moved, we basically work, hike, take photos, and cruise around in my VW Thing.

Kayenta...the first of many places we accadently found.

Zion National Park

Red Cliffs

Also, we found some great Shave Ice places, but sadly they are all only open on Saturdays!

Happy New Year to me!

Captain's Log 1-11-2011
The new year has come, which means time for resolutions, but more importantly, time to account for last year's goals.  Goal #1: Get in shape (like every year before since I was 6)
Technically I failed before I succeeded.   I started at 180 lbs (in my before pics).  I worked out until my gym membership ran out in March, then I slacked.  Eventually I hit 190 lbs.  I started working at it again in September, working out daily and eating better.  By December 29th I'd cut my weight from 190 to 170, and my waist from 38" to 32.5" These photos are taken one year apart to the day:
I haven't fit into those shorts since 2005

I still have a long way to go,  but I'm in the best shape of my life and I'm pretty pleased about it. Forgive my bragging, but I'm stoked!
Also, I made another goal a few years when I started taking yoga to be able to stand on a stability ball, so not technically this year's resolution but:
Trust me, it's not as easy as it looks.

 As for this year's resolutions:
Get back up to 180 lbs, but with less than 7% body fat.
Get an artist manager for my music.
Get a booking agent.
Start a band.

Best and Worst of 2010

Best Movies:
Red - Old people have never been more funny.  This is a spy comedy at its best.
True Grit - I don't usually like the Coen Brothers, but this one was great!
Inception - This movie is what can happen when a studio throws it's money at the right projects.
Toy Story 3 - Toy Story, the THRILLER.  Never has a monkey been scarier.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World - A rare movie that really lives up to it's hype.  Quirky, funny, and unique.
Honorable mention: Tangled, Karate Kid, and Tron Legacy
"I freaking love Toy Story!!!"

Disappointments:
Killers - Nothing like the trailer.  We were so disappointed that we snuck into another movie after, just to get our money's worth...which brings us to...
Prince of Persia - Really not that bad, but nothing special either.
Iron Man 2 -  I really liked it, more than most people, but it's a typical sequel that isn't as good as it's predecessor
Dear John - Blah, Channing Tatum is great, and therefore needs to be in better movies.
The Last Airbender - Didn't see it, and won't bother.  As far as I'm concerned this is like Hitchcock making a Pokemon movie.

Best Albums:
Angels and Airwaves - Love (one of my favorite albums ever)
Taking Back Sunday - Live From Orensanz
Pomplamoose - Tribute to Famous People
Linkin Park - A Thousand Suns
Logan Kendell - One Man Band of Gypsies (well...it's my best album anyways.  Go buy it!)

Best TV Series:
Dexter Season 5 (I know I said I'd never watch again after the end of season 4, but I'm so glad I did)
House Season 7 (So far it's been awesome, although loosing 13 and replacing her with the annoying new chick was a low blow)

Worst things about this year:
Kesha, The continuation of Twilight mania, and the over use of the phrases "Best. ______. EVER!" and "I know! Right?" in movies, TV,  and in real life.

Looking forward to most next year:
Cowboys VS. Aliens
"Love" the film by Angels & Airwaves
Rango
Cars 2
Pirates of The Caribbean 4 (not real hopeful, but I'm sure I'll Enjoy it.)

Best and worst of 2009 (mostly in movies)

I started this best and worst list in January, but never got around to finishing it.  So here it is, a year late.

Best movies:
5. District 9 - I actually didn't really like it, but I can't deny that it was a fantastic film!
4. Avatar - Yes it's Pocahontas, yes it's Fern Gully, Yes it's better than both, and yes it's the most visually stunning film EVER.
3. Star Trek - I almost went out and bought a car horn that played the original Star Trek theme after this movie.
2. Princess and The Frog - Made me cry more than any other movie ever, including Lilo and Stitch.
1. Sherlock Holmes - Guy, Robert, Jude, Rachel, and Mark, a dash of steampunk, and a spectacular wardrobe...Recipe for AWESOMENESS!

Disappointments:
5. Terminator Salvation - I liked it, but Christian Bale was definitely the weak link here.
4. 2012 - It was really entertaining, but way too ridiculous
3. Ghosts of Girlfriends Past - I didn't expect much, it still didn't deliver.
2. Angels and Deamons - I love Tom Hanks, but not as Robert Langdon. Dan Brown books don't
seem to make good movies.
1. Where The Wild Things Are - The monsters were awesome, the story was pointless, the kid was
WAY to old to play that part, or be acting that way, and the vocalist of
the music SUCKS! Too annoying to be a big people movie, too deep
to be a kids movie, and to quote everyone who's ever critiqued a
Michael Bay movie "Buy a tripod!"

Underrated (in no particular order):
5.17 Again - It's funny, the story is good, yeah its been done before but it was still fun!
4. Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs - The monkey is funny enough to get this movie on the list.
3. Monsters VS. Aliens - Uniquely animated and hilarious.
2. The Men Who Stare at Goats - There really aren't enough feel good hippie movies
1. Whip-it - You really can't go wrong with Ellen Page.  Drew Barrymore gave her most entertaining performance to date, and did a great job directing.

Overrated: (in no particular order)
5.  The Lovely Bones - Ok, I'm not gonna lie, I didn't watch the whole thing, but what I saw was worthless!
4.  Where the Wild Things Are - Despite all the above listed things, film snobs everywhere loved it.
3.  Imaginarium of Dr. Parnasus - Heath Ledger's real last movie, Dark Knight, was phenomenal.  This movie was like watching bad CGI and a lousy script throw up on a really talented cast.
2.  Crazy Heart - Love Jeff Bridges, and he did a good job here, but the story wasn't worth sitting through.
1.  Hurt Locker - Best picture?  are you kidding?  I don't even understand how this film made it out of pre-production.

Discoveries (movies not released this year, but that I discovered this year):
5. Reign Over Me - Adam Sandler was great in this movie.
4. The Green Mile - Superb!
3. Shawshank Redemption - Really Good!
2. Rocket Science - Little known, absolutely awesome film!
1. Let The Right One In - I watched this movie 3 times in one week!  It is a spectacular Swedish film.  The director of Cloverfield is currently working on ruining it for his american remake (update, he finished it, it's called let me it, and i probably won't ever give it a chance).

Best New Book:
The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown

Best New Albums:
John Mayer - Battle Studies
The Used - Artwork
Muse - The Resistance
Fun. - Aim and Ignite
Zee Avi - Zee Avi

Worst thing that happened in 2009:
Lady Gaga
